Why you should go to the store with your wife

Here’s a tip for all you men out there…

If your wife asks, “Do you want to go to the store with me?”, you better say, “Yes, I would love to”.

Recently, one Saturday morning, my wife asked me this question.

Now, I had just finished my early morning routine and was working on my to do list for the day and going to the store was not in my plans so, like the scarecrow with no brain, I told her “No, I’ve got a lot to do today“.

Wrong answer!
If I was on a game show, like Family Feud, there would have been this huge X appear on the wall of our house and a loud buzzer sounding.
I immediately knew that I had said the wrong thing and tried to back pedal and convince her that I really did want to go, but it was too late.

After she left for the store I had time to think about it and realized that what she really meant was, “Hey, it’s been a long week. It’s Saturday and we don’t have to work. I would like to spend some time with you“.

With my new found enlightenment I immediately sent her a text her and said, “I am on my way“.

It wasn’t about just going to the store and buying groceries, it was about spending time walking around and talking while you shopped.

Our lives are often so busy that we sometimes don’t plan time for the people in our lives that matter the most.

Sometimes something as simple as going to the store with your wife is a way to fit that in.

Next time she asks, I hope to get a loud “Ding“, for a correct answer.
